Having some fun at one of the parks in Fort Dodge with some friends.
Lola wants to join the fun!
So last night our regular service was moved about 45 miles south of Fort Dodge to a Christian Camp were the youth group has been for the last few days at the annual Teen Camp.
As we entered the campground, we were pleasantly surprised to find the auditorium was one of the buildings that had air conditioning. It has been sweltering here for the last week.
Pastor Smith opened the service with some great praise and worship songs…
As the Deer
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after thee
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship thee
Chorus
You alone are my strength my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship thee
You’re my friend and You are my brother,
Even though you are a king.
I love you more thank any other,
So much more than anything.
I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy Giver,
And the apple of my eye.
For Thou, O Lord, Art High Above All The Earth
Thou Art Exalted Far Above All Gods
For Thou, O Lord, Art High Above All The Earth
Thou Art Exalted Far Above All Gods
Chorus:
I Exalt Thee, I Exalt Thee
I Exalt Thee, O Lord
I Exalt Thee, I Exalt Thee
I Exalt Thee, O Lord
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living
Sanctuary for You
Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom pow’r and love
our God is an awesome God
What an awesome time of singing and praise to our God. I can truly say that I have never been in a service like that one. Afterward, Bro. Marvin Smith, IV preached about the “Power of Worship” from Psalms 34…
1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof , and be glad. 3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him , and saved him out of all his troubles.7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing .
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. 22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
A great truth starting out with the praises to an Almighty God and finishing with the Lord delivering us from our fears and troubles. The service lasted for more than two and a half hours. I truly felt refreshed and that I was pushed closer to my God and not taught from a personal agenda.
I can’t wait to share more of our experiences here in Fort Dodge. I look over this post and am reminded that I am not a writer…please don’t judge my lack of skills in that area. God has told me to share our story out here…The other day I was reading in Romans 1 and the Holy Spirit spoke to me through verses
11 & 12 “…that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.” God wants us to share our journeys with one another to encourage and edify.
